The professional lacrosse regular season starts tomorrow. Dance teams across the National Lacrosse League (NLL) have been preparing for months, and it’s almost go time. The Jax Dancers are all set to debut when the Portland Lumberjax taken on the Buffalo Bandits tomorrow. Their headshots and bios are up on the PortlandJax.com. Portland LumberJax, Sept. 15, 2006 – The Portland LumberJax presented the 2007 SunsUp Tanning Jax Dance Team on Wednesday night at On Deck Sports Bar & Grill. They also announced sponsoring partnerships with On Deck and SunsUp Tanning Inc. for the upcoming season, celebrating the evening with key partners and season ticket holders. With Melissa Hornberger as the Dance Team Coordinator, the 2007 SunsUp Tanning Jax Dance Team consists of 18 dancers and two alternates. The team performed for the first time this season and was officially presented by the evening’s announcer Dan Bozyk from KUFO. Bozyk, known as the on-turf promotional host for all home games in the Rose Garden, will be the Jax in-game PA announcer for the 2007 season.
“The event was great, because a lot of people focused on the dancers,” said SunsUp Tanning co-owner Fuli Waldenburg. “We are looking forward to getting our name out there with the Jax, and we will be able to do more promotions with the dancers in the future.”
The Buffalo Bandits failed in their NLL Championship bid this past Saturday night in Buffalo. But the Bandettes proved once again why they are one of the premier dance squads in the league. A pre-game party was held in the plaza next to HSBC Arena where the Bandettes performed and posed for photos with the fans.

During the game performances, the absences of Marissa, Richelle, and Jenna helped prompt the Bandettes coaches Julie and Erin to take up pom-poms and show to the crowd they also haven’t lost the looks and the moves they used to display every Sunday with the Jills.

2006 Knightingales Captains Named
The Knightingales are the dance team for the National Lacrosse League’s Rochester Nighthawks. Last Sunday was the final phase of auditions to select the members of the 2006 Knightingales dance team. The directors have not yet released the names of those who made the squad, but they have selected team captains for the upcoming season - veterans Andrea and Katie. Although Andrea has been a Knightingale for three years and Katie for two, this is the first year as captain for both of them. We wish them luck for the upcoming season. I’m sure they’ll do a great job. Meanwhile the entire team is busy preparing for the 2006 professional lacrosse season, which begins in January.
